Goldstone is a beautiful synthetic (man-made) material that comes in many colours, with a brilliant sparkle. The original reddish brown Goldstone was created in Italy in the 17th century- the glass of this type is colourless... the "gold" flecks comes from copper oxide being added to molten glass while in its liquid state. The slower the glass is cooled, the larger the copper crystals can end up. Other colours of Goldstone are created with different mineral inclusions - the use of cobalt creates Blue Goldstone, Purple Goldstone is achieved by using Manganese, and Green is caused by Chromium. Goldstone has become a popular material to create beads, carvings, tumbled "stones", hearts, cabochons and jewelry with. Present day, most Goldstone is produced in China. We carefully examine our Goldstone products to ensure minimal slag or bubbles, with overall evenly distributed copper. *Please Note: All our organic gemstones and crystals are formed by Mother Earth. Natural “imperfections” such as surface cracks, various defects, and the shedding of some crystals are to be expected. Our products are carefully graded, and if we believe there is an UNNATURAL defect - the item will go under our “Imperfect Collection” clearance category. Please research how to properly “cleanse” and charge your crystals, as some crystals must not get wet, and others will fade in prolonged sunlight. All sales are final.*
